Background
A working musician who spent twenty years learning how rooms change.
Twenty years leading companies
Founded and led companies for two decades — from a kitchen counter to teams across the country, through best-places-to-work lists, to two acquisitions.
Five years on the road
A Fine Arts degree in jazz and percussion, then five years as a professional touring jazz musician. Music was first.
Trained in the lineages
Singing bowls with a teacher from a multi-generational lineage in Nepal. Sacred percussion — taiko — in Japan. Ceremonies in Mexico.
A rig he built himself
Custom-programmed hardware and software, designed over years to shape sound to the state a room needs in real time.
The rigAuthor of “Set, Setting, and Sound”
The written case that sound is a third condition of transformative experience — one that acts on set and setting, and the only one you can steer live.

What the room experiences
A live musical journey you take lying down.
An immersive sound journey is a live musical experience you take lying down. Musician and sound ceremony artist Dustin Wells surrounds the room with sacred instruments — gongs, shamanic drums, singing bowls, crystal bowls, wind chimes — woven live with synths, guitar, and voice into a single soundscape. The journey moves through a deliberate arc, from settling in to full sound to a quiet return, designed to guide the nervous system out of fight-or-flight and into the parasympathetic state, where the body does its own healing. Come as you are; leave with what you came for.
The arc
- 1ArrivalSettling in. Drone, bowls, breath — the room becomes safe.
- 2ActivationA pulse enters. The body wakes up and says yes.
- 3DescentDensity drops away. Space opens for what is underneath.
- 4ExpressionFull sound. Whatever needs to move, moves.
- 5ExpansionWide, warm, open. Connection — to self, to the room, to life.
- 6IntegrationA return to the first tone. You leave with what you came for.

Dustin Wells is a musician, sound ceremony artist, and guide based in Telluride, Colorado. A lifetime jazz musician with formal training in sound healing — including study with his mentor in Nepal — he brings an engineer's precision and a musician's reverence to an ancient practice: using sound to change human state. His sound ceremonies are immersive, live musical journeys built for the room they happen in — the sound placed all around the listeners rather than arriving from a single point. The foundation is sacred instruments — gongs, shamanic drums, singing bowls, crystal bowls, wind chimes — woven live with synths, piano, guitar, and voice into a single soundscape. Each ceremony moves through a deliberate arc, guiding the room out of fight-or-flight and into the parasympathetic state, where the body does its own healing. Guests lie down, close their eyes, and are held in the container from first tone to last. There is nothing to do and nothing to get right.
Lie down, close your eyes, and be carried by live sound. Gongs, singing bowls, drums, and chimes layered live with synths, guitar, and voice — one immersive soundscape guiding you into the parasympathetic state, where the body does its own healing. No experience needed. There is nothing to do and nothing to get right.
